Nintendo is going back to basics with a modern redux of its original Game & Watch handheld — now updated with a full-color LCD, according to a surprise announcement made during a Nintendo Direct showcase on YouTube.

The little gaming device plays the first Super Mario Bros., and will be released on November 13, selling for $49.99.

Nintendo's 35th anniversary redux of "Super Mario Bros." will also come with "Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels" — released in Japan as "Super Mario Bros. 2" — and an updated version of "Game & Watch: Ball," starring Mario in the place of Mr. Game & Watch, reports The Verge.

The new design is a revamp of the first +Control Pad (from 1980), and in the spirit of the first Game & Watch device, this one also works as a digital clock, but with an additional 35 "little touches" and Easter eggs to honor the anniversary.

With a release date of Nov. 13, the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. handheld gaming system will have "limited production," and sell for $49.99.

Nintendo adds classics to 'Super Mario 3D All-Stars,' brings 'Mario Kart' to real world

Nintendo also said it would be re-releasing a wider collection of three more Super Mario games to mark the occasion. The upcoming "Super Mario 3D All-Stars" will also feature "Super Mario 64," "Super Mario Sunshine," and "Super Mario Galaxy" — all in one explosive package — for the Nintendo Switch, according to a local news source.

The new game will launch on September 18, and "will be available until March 31, 2021." As if this wasn't enough for its 35th anniversary, Nintendo also revealed it's launching a redux of "Mario Kart" called "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit," which takes the popular racing series into a real-world environment.

Players of Nintendo's new game will control a real Kart, and morph their home into a "Mario Kart" course. Finally, this Thursday announcement also teased players with details about a new online game called "Super Mario Bros. 35," which pits 35 players in a battle royale in the original world of the "Super Mario Bros." game.
